In January 2026, the monthly variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was 0.4%, the cumulative variation was 0.4%, and the twelve-month variation was 2.8%.
Ten of the thirteen divisions of the CPI basket had positive influences on the monthly variation of the index and three divisions had negative influences.
Among the divisions with increases in prices, the most notable were alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3.1%), which had an impact of 0.109 percentage points (pp) on the overall CPI, and health (1.2%), which had an impact of 0.102 pp.
The remaining divisions with positive influence on the variation of the CPI had a combined impact of 0.381 pp.
Among the divisions with monthly decreases in prices, the most notable was transport (-1.3%), which had an impact of -0.164 pp.
