Births
A total of 12,080 births were registered in the country in June 2026 (50.9% male and 49.1% female), a year-on-year increase of 1.7%, according to the Vital Statistics Bulletin, which is published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the mother’s age bracket, the greatest percentage of births was to mothers aged 30 to 34 (29.9%, 3,611 live births), followed by births to mothers aged 25 to 29 (25.4%, or 3,068 live births).
Marriages and Civil Union Agreements (CUAs)
Vital statistics for June 2026 show 3,937 marriages in Chile, which is equivalent to an increase of 21.2% compared to the same month in 2025.
The number of CUAs stood at 2,470, a year-on-year increase of 55.2%. The majority of CUAs (91%) were between different-sex couples, while CUAs between men accounted for 4.7% and those between women for 4.3%.
Deaths
In the period of analysis, 11,285 deaths were registered, 5,894 male (52.2%) and 5,391 female (47.8%). The number of deaths decreased by 410 year on year, which represents a fall of 3.5%.
The greatest number of deaths occurred in persons aged 60 and over, and they were concentrated in the age bracket 80 to 99 years (44.7%, or 5,042 deaths). There were 73 deaths of children aged under one year, which accounts for 0.6% of all deaths during the period.
