Marriages and Civil Union Agreements (CUAs)
Vital statistics for February 2026 show that there were 7,725 marriages in Chile, an increase of 9.9% compared to February 2025, according to the Vital Statistics Bulletin, which is published by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
There were 1,933 CUAs in February 2026, an increase of 34.7% compared to the same month in 2025. The majority of CUAs (88.4%) were between couples of different sex while CUAs between men represented 4.5% and those between women made up 7.1%.
Births
In February 2026, 11,481 births (50.7% male and 49.3% female) were observed, a decrease of 0.4% compared to the same month in 2025.
According to the mother’s age bracket, the greatest percentage of births were to women of the bracket 30 to 34 years (29.2%, or 3,354 live births). Following were births to women in the bracket 25 to 29 years (26.0%, or 2,990 live births).
Deaths
In February 2026, there were 8,867 deaths: 4,594 males (51.8%) and 4,273 females (48.2%). The total number of deaths decreased by 47 year on year, which represents a fall of 0.5%.
