INE has published databases at the block level and mapping from the 2024 Population and Housing Census

17-12-2025
The published material includes 189 variables on people, households, and housing units down to the geographic level of block-entity. Also included are updated census maps for the entire country.

This Tuesday, 16 December, the National Statistics Institute (INE) released the block-entity database of the 2024 Population and Housing Census, together with updated census maps of the country.

The database contains 189 variables associated with people, households, and housing units down to the geographic level of block-entity. In other words, the data have been published at the level of urban block, village block, rural entity, urban zone, and rural locality. This census database enables the characterization of various territories of the country and thereby assists in territorial analysis and local planning.

Census mapping, meanwhile, is available at the national and regional levels, and it encompasses different layers of information, including both political-administrative boundaries and operational census divisions.

This publication has been produced in accordance with the legal provisions on statistical secrecy and the protection of personal privacy contained in current legislation. Within this framework, INE applies both its institutional standards for the control of statistical disclosure and international recommendations to ensure that the publication of data does not compromise the confidentiality of enumerated individuals, households, or housing units.

In addition, INE has provided a manual for using the census mapping, a dictionary of variables for the block-entity database, and an executable file for viewing population and housing totals for cities, towns, villages, and hamlets, as well as other methodological documents associated with this publication
