The material covers census microdata for individuals, households, and housing units disaggregated at the commune-area level. A document summarizing the results of the 2024 Census was also made available.
On Thursday, December 4, the National Statistics Institute (INE) released the 2024 Population and Housing Census Database, which consists of census microdata for individuals, households, and housing units, disaggregated by commune-area. In a supplementary release in December, the associated census maps will be made available.
For a better understanding and use of the material, INE has published a user manual for the micro-database and a dictionary of related variables. (This material is available in Spanish only.)
INE has also published the Summary of Results of the 2024 Census (in Spanish only), which provides an overview of the general results at the national and regional levels for variables characterizing individuals, housing units, and households. All the information can be found on the websites www.censo2024.cl and www.ine.gob.cl.
The results are presented in compliance with the law on statistical secrecy and institutional standards for control of disclosure, whose purpose is to safeguard the confidentiality of enumerated individuals and households.
The 2024 Population and Housing Census was conducted between March and July of 2024, and it involved the efforts of more than 38,000 people who traveled throughout the country to enumerate the population and housing units throughout the national territory.
