Deaths

In July 2025, there were 11,790 deaths, of which 6,194 were of males (52.5%) and 5,596 were of females (47.5%). The total number of deaths rose 0.3% year on year, según se desprende del Boletín Coyuntural de Estadísticas Vitales, publicado por el Instituto Nacional de Estadísticas (INE).

The greatest number of deaths occurred in those aged 60 and over, most notably in the age bracket 80 to 99 years, which represented 44.9% of the total (5,291 deaths). The number of deaths of those aged under 1 year was 57, which is 0.5% of the total.

Marriages and CUAs

Vital statistics of July 2025 show that there were 3,530 marriages in the country, which is equivalent to an increase of 2.6% compared to the same month in 2024.

Civil Union Agreeements (CUAs) stood at 1,772, a year-on-year rise of 19.5%. The majority of CUAs were between couples of different sexes (89.4%). The remaining CUAs were between men (5%) and women (5.5%).

Births

A total of 12,064 births (51% males and 49% females) were observed in the country in July 2025, which represents a fall of 5.3% compared to July 2024.

By the mother’s age bracket, the greatest percentage of births was to mothers aged 30 to 34 years (29.9%, or 3,605 live births), which was followed by mothers aged 25 to 29 years (25.5%, or 3,073 live births).
