In more than 450 buses of the network system, people will be invited to participate in the last stage of the census, which concludes at the end of June, by calling the Census Phone (Fono Censo) at 1525 for access to the online census. The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications noted that the information of the census is important for the creation of public policies, and he called on people to provide information.
Under the slogan “Don't miss the census”, the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications (MTT), together with the National Statistics Institute (INE), called for all residents of Chile to participate in this last stage of the census by providing information that will be used in a wide range of public policies and planning.
The MTT will support the call of INE through the deployment of information in more than 460 buses of the network system. This phase of the census invites people who have not yet been enumerated in the 2024 Census to contact the Census Phone at 1525 for access to the online census or to go to the Census Points (Puntos Censo) described on the census website at www.censo2024.cl.
“The census is a key process in the advancement of various public policies for improving the quality of life of those who live in our country. The information collected by the 24,000 enumerators is essential for the MTT because it tells us how people move around and where changes in housing density have led to a greater need for public transport. We are therefore joining the final stage of the census with great enthusiasm, and we are sure that the visibility of the public transport buses will be of great assistance in reaching all those people who have not yet been part of this process”, said the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz.
The national director of INE, Ricardo Vicuña, called on “those who have not yet been enumerated to contact INE through the Census Phone at 1525 for access to the online census or to go to the Census Points (Puntos Censo) described on the censo2024 website”. “We are grateful for the MTT’s deployment of 467 buses of the network system, and their participation in our ‘Don't miss the census!’ campaign”, he added.
The director of Metropolitan Public Transport, Paola Tapia Salas, emphasized, “more than seven million people live in the fifty-two communes of the Metropolitan Region, and thirty-six of them are part of the network system. For this crucial campaign, we will provide a fleet of 467 buses for sharing information so that everyone can not only use public transport but also respond to the 2024 Census, whose results help us to continue moving forward with more modernity, infrastructure, electromobility, and inclusion”.
The authorities highlighted the work of the 24,000 enumerators who have been deployed throughout the country since March, and they invited those who have not yet been enumerated to access the online survey.
Please note that the Census Phone at 1525 is available to all communes throughout the country. Those who have not yet responded to the census can also come to the Census Points to be assisted in this important process.
