Throughout this stage, those who have not yet been enumerated can call the Census Phone (Fono Censo) at 1525 to access the online census. In the various regions of the country, fieldwork will continue through June with visits to homes whose residents have not been enumerated.
The third stage of the 2024 Census begins this Monday, 27 May, and the call from the National Statistics Institute (INE) is for no one to be left out of the largest and most important statistical operation of the country.
In this stage, fieldwork teams will be visiting communes in person and providing access to the online census. Those who have not yet responded to the questionnaire are therefore invited to do so, whether with a census enumerator or online.
To date, over seven million homes have been visited, and during the coming weeks some of them will be visited again. The national director of the National Statistics Institute (INE), Ricardo Vicuña, said, “it is essential to reach all those who for various reasons have not responded to the census questionnaire. It is very important that all inhabitants of the nation fulfill their civic duty to respond to the census and contribute to this national effort”.
Although enumerators continue to travel throughout the national territory and they will continue to do so until the end of June, those who have not been enumerated are invited to call the Census Phone at 1525, where a member of the census team will provide access and instructions for responding to the census online.
The official means of accessing the online census are through the Census Phone at 1525 and through entering the code from the online census invitation letter left by the enumerator at the time of the visit. INE also specifies that it will not call or send access links to the online census via WhatsApp or e-mail.
“For those who already have the invitation letter to the online census, we invite them to enter the platform at www.censo2024.cl, click on the online census section, and respond to the census questionnaire, registering all the habitual residents of their home, including everyone from newborns to the elderly,” added the national director of INE.
Those who respond to the online census receive a questionnaire voucher as confirmation that their home has been enumerated. The voucher can be shown by residents as a means of verification in case they are visited by census teams. This voucher is sent to the e-mail provided in the online census once the questionnaire has been completed.
As planned, the 2024 Census will continue throughout June. To date, several communes will no longer be visited by enumerators in the field, but they will have access to the online census. To find out more about these communes and other communes as they are added to the list, please visit www.censo2024.cl.
Law 17.374, which governs INE, establishes that all inhabitants of the country are required to provide data for the census operation. The same law establishes statistical secrecy, that is, data collected by INE is confidential and used for statistical purposes only.
